Valiyudan Oru Kadhal Movie review
Valiyudan Oru Kadhal is a romantic tragedy that has been directed by Cm Sanjeevan and produced by Reetha. R., under the Matha's Blessing Studio banner. This movie stars Rajesh and Gowri Nambiar as the lead pair - Kathir and Yashodha, respectively.
The movie opens to scenes of a badly injured Kathir, being treated at a hospital. He is surrounded by his family and friends. The doctor asks him about his past and Kathir goes back into recolletion (flashback) mode. Kathir, the son of a middle-class Policeman and housewife, with two younger sisters, is a jobless, aimless vagabond, who lives life on his own terms. One fine day, he comes across Yashodha, the daughter of the ruthless local bigwig - Saravana Poigai (JK Selvaah). When Yashodha's would-be (her own uncle's son) Durai Selvam (played by Suresh Vincent) comes to know of this, all hell breaks loose and he injures Kathir badly. Saravana Poigai and Durai Selvam show no mercy on their enemies and would do anything to remove obstacles from their life. Yashodha also begins to fall for Kathir. Despite repeated warnings from his friends Sabaa (S. Arjun) and Puncture Baskar (D. Lenin), Kathir starts going behind the girl and her family comes to know of this relationship. What happens next, forms the rest of Valiyudan Oru Kadhal.
The director has tried to make a different and unique romantic tale with a few twists and turns. However, right from the word go - the casting, the cinematography, the visual quality, the dubbing, the screenplay - everything goes for a toss. JK Selvaah's music and acting are a few saving graces. Gowri Nambiar seems to be a very pretty prospect and the fact that she resembles Anjali and Parvathy Omanakuttan from some angles is sure to work in her favour. The movie moves along at a very slow pace, and tests our patience.
Valiyudan Oru Kadhal, could have been better on a number of fronts...
