Savaale Samaali Movie review
Savaale Samaali, directed by SathyaSiva stars Ashok Selvan, Bhindu Madhavi and Jagan in the lead. The film is a humourous take on the reality behind televisions shows. Ashok Selvan and Jagan work at a TV channel which has very low TRPs. Will they bring back good fortune to the channel forms the crux of the story.
Director SathyaSiva has humourously revealed the real sides of TV shows : a maiden attempt in Kollywood. The film has opened decent to reviews as it has a good message embedded in its comedy. The spoof scenes of TV shows succeed in tickling your funny bones. Ashok Selvan, who makes his first attempt in the comedy genre has to be appreciated for his efforts. The actor has broken away from his image as a serious actor. Actor Jagan has delivered a notable performance. He is Ashok Selvan's sidekick and helps keep the story lively with his humoruous one liners. At certain points it is he who keeps the movie engaging. The beautiful Bindhu Madhavi who plays the love interest of Ashok Selvan is confined to the love line of the movie and she has perfected that part.
Karunaas' role as a channel head is impressive. In fact, one of his scenes where he talks about 'Koothu' artistes earned him applause in the theatres. Paravai Muniyamma has also made her contribution to the humour in the film. Notably, veteran performers Nasser, M. S. Bhaskar and Oorvasi who play small but pivotal roles walk away with accolades.
Music director S. Thaman has composed neat and simple music for the film. Savaale Samaali offers the audience a chance to witness the dancing prowess of actor Ashok Selvan, which is pretty good! However, the placement of songs could have been better. Though editor Ahamed has maintained the simplicity of the film, certain scenes could have been trimmed. However, the simple and neat style of comedy is the highlight of Savaale Samaali.
Verdict: A clean comedy entertainer!
