Poriyaalan is a film that deals with the dark side of real-estate business. Saravanan played by Harish Kalyan is a civil engineer who aspires to start up his own construction company. He works as a site engineer under Naren to gain experience. He often gets scolded and demotivated for his lower designation and inexperience. Sundar is a local financier who lends money for high interest rates. He is a typical villain as he goes to the extent of killing people who doesn’t repay their debts. Prabhu who is one of Saravanan’s friends, works for Sundar. Meanwhile, after getting demotivated by his boss, Saravanan decides to quit his job and scouts for a location to start his first construction work. While looking for locations, Saravanan gets cheated y many real estate brokers. Prabhu who is impressed with Saravanan’s work assures to help him with money. Here Saravanan falls in to a trap and struggles to come out of it.
In the meantime, Prabhu’s sister (played by Anandhi) falls in love with Saravanan. How does Saravanan manage to get out of the trap forms the crux of the story.
The screenplay is neatly packed with twists and turns necessary for the story. Both Harish Kalyan and Anandhi have delivered their roles perfectly. The thrill elements in the film keep the audience glued to their seats. Performances by Mohan Raman and Mayilsamy need a special mention. Cinematography by Velraj is an added advantage to Poriyaalan. Music director M.S. Jones’s BGM has kept up with the pace of the film.
Overall, Poriyaalan describes the struggle of a civil engineer in an intense manner.
