Patchakuthirai Movie review
Parthiban’s movies have a separate style and a different touch. The response from the audicence for his movies has always been good and his films have no wonder been successful. The same is the case with Patchakuthirai. Parthiban has worked hard towards this film with much dedication. Apart from directing, he has also played the role of the hero in this film. Another specialty of this film is that it is produced by Parthiban’s offsprings Abi, Keerthi and Rakki.
Every man has a sadist within him. In rare cases, this sadist overrules his human nature. In this film, a youth who is a real sadist is well portrayed. Pachamuthu (Parthiban) is a dark man living in the villages. He is a real sadist, who finds pleasure in making even a baby cry. He enjoys putting others into trouble and making them upset. Pacha illtreats his blood relations too. Such is the life of Pacha. He meets Poovu (Namitha) who is getting dressed up for her marriage. He enters in and creates a rift in the marriage house. He walks away with Namitha and enters into a bodily relationship with her even before he gets wedded to her. His character may seem irritating and horrible but that is what Pacha is. Poovu is a really simple girl with a soft heart.
Once Pacha wants to find out what his village people feel about him and how they would react in case he dies. He spreads the news of his death, goes into hiding, and observes his post-death rituals taking place. Then he starts observing what his freinds, neighbours and acquaintances have to say about the "dead" Pachamuthu. It is during this time that Pacha finds how the villagers hate him and how happy they are about his death. A continuous occurence of similar incidents result in the beast Pacha turning into a humane human being. He helps the village people and frees them from the clutches of the usurious money lenders.
This film is just another of Parthiban’s usual styles but with Namitha in it, this film has turned out to be different. The glam doll Namitha has proved the talent of the actress hidden inside her. Parthiban has used Namitha’s glamour in a decent way with no vulgarity and he has served in bringing out the actress within her.
Patchakuthirai is a different theme and a different approach of Parthiban. On the whole, it is a good film with a moral and a difference.
