Nee Naan Nizhal Movie review
Nee Nan Nizhal directed by John Robinson is an action cum romantic film that tells a tale which is quiet common in this generation. With the advent of internet and individuals gaining access to it at their early age the incidence of cyber crime is on the increase now. The film focuses on the concept of online relationships that can go wrong.
The movie opens with the murder of five people totally unrelated to each other. The incidents that take place in Malaysia pulls in Anwar Ali (Sarath Kumar) , a police officer to look into the case. Upon investigations it is found that the five victims have a mutual friend on Facebook, with the profile name Asha Black. The next obvious step taken by the police officials is the search for this girl. Meanwhile back in India, Rahul a young musician from Coimbatore befriends Asha Black and falls head over heels in love with her. This drive leads him to travel to Malaysia and express his love for her. To his surprise, he comes to know that the girl has committed suicide. The death of the suspect makes the case more complicated. What awaits Rahul there and how his life changes make the rest of the plot.
Sarath Kumar, though does not appear much in the film, makes his presence felt in his scenes. He has given a splendid performance as a cop. The crew comprises of mostly fresh faces and most of the characters do not play an active role in the film. M.S. Bhaskar and Black Pandi appear in few scenes, perform their act and leave. However their comedies are noteworthy. Rahul the protagonist plays his role well except for the slight errors in dubbing and voice over.
The second half of the story goes much darker into the thriller side with twists and turns. It deals with parental neglect, child molestation and even pedophilia is brought into the plot. The pedophilic nature of the antagonist is stereotypical there is nothing fresh or new in the climax.
The drawback of the film can be the screenplay which leads to a confusion whether the scene is in the present or past. Other than that John has worked on art direction and the camera very carefully making it visually appealing. The music is a huge plus in the movie as it compensates for the hitches in dubbing and voice over.
Overall, the storyline itself has a huge impact as it deals with the current problems that many youngsters face on the internet. It also seems to be an eye opener for the parents who generally neglect their children. John has delivered the message effectively with the perfect measure of action, romance and thrill.
