Muni Movie review
Lawrence has accomplished the impossible. He has managed to give another hit with his new film Muni .
He now has three successful films in a row Mass , Style and Muni. The speciality of Muni is that Lawrence has not only directed the film but has also essayed the hero's role. The film has been made both in Tamil and Telugu.
Ganesh (Lawrence) is a weak and timid fellow. His father keeps on harping on ghost stories which add to his fear. All this makes him a laughing stock in his village. His mother Kantamma (Kovai Sarala) tries in vain to find a good match for her son.
The entire village knows about Ganesh and no one comes forward to give his daughter to him.But our timid hero actually falls in love with a girl from the village, Priya (Vedika) and manages to convince her parents and marries her. At this point Ganesh's father is transferred to Visakhapatnam .
They rent a house without knowing that it is haunted. The villain Dandapani, MLA kills his friend Muni (Rajkiran) brutally. Muni's soul haunts the house. One day Muni's souls enters the body of Ganesh. He wants to take revenge on Dandapani through Ganesh. The hero's parents seek the help of an exorcist to cure Ganesh.
The exorcist Anantudu (Nazar) manages to tame the atma. Ganesh comes to know about the evil Dandapani through the atma of Muni. He kills the villain's henchmen and gets ready to kill Dandapani.
The villain gets to know about this and calls in another exorcist, Masthan (Rahuldev) to tame Ganesh and prevent him form taking revenge. The villain finally admits his crime and seeks pardon only to go back on his promise.
This leaves our hero with no option but to kill the villain. With this the film comes to a happy ending. While the entire village believes that it was Muni's atma that killed Dandapani, only the exorcist knows that truth – that it was Ganesh and not Muni's atma that killed Dandapani.
Lawrence has once again given a good performance both with his acting and dance skills. His action scenes are quite impressive. The graphic work too is impressive. The film has a lot of action and horror.
The film with its action and fighting in the second half, more than makes up for the slow pace in the first half. However, the theme is quite novel when you compare it with the present crop of movies.
With this film, Lawrence has once again broached the subject of atma and evil spirits. The film reminds one of Chandramukhi. All in all this is a movie worth seeing. The action, suspense and sentiment are all in good measure. Kovai Sarala has given a good performance as the mother.
