Kavalai Vendam Movie review
Touted to be a rom-com, Jiiva-Bobby Simha starrer Kavalai Vendam has created a good pre-release buzz among fans. Directed by Deekay of Yaamirukka Bayamey fame, Kajal Aggarwal plays the leading lady in this emotional drama produced by RS Infotainment. Also, in the star cast is Sunaina, Shruthi Ramakrishna of 144 fame, Mandra, R J Balaji, BalaSaravanan, Mayil Samy and Motta Rajendran. The technical cast comprises of Leon James (music), Abinanthan (camera), Senthil Ragavan (art) and Ruben Antony (editing). Abinesh Elangovan’s Abi & Abi Pictures has bagged the Indian theatrical rights for a whopping price.
The film narrates the story of a happy-go-lucky chef Aravind (Jiiva) who is separated from his wife Divya (Kajal Aggarwal). Now, the interesting point here is Divya is planning to tie the knot with Arjun (Bobby Simhaa), an American-mappillai of sorts. When Divya goes to Aravind to get their divorce papers signed, he asks her to be his wife for one week. And when things between them get sorted out, Arjun enters to further complicate the story.
As usual, Jiiva has churned out a neat performance, well characters like Aravind are nothing news to him and he has done it with ease.
Bobby Simha is good in his stylish avatar, however, an actor of his caliber seem to have been wasted by the crew.
Kajal Aggarwal is beautiful on screen but somewhere she seems to have a weak role lacking details.
Abinathan's camera works are beautiful, he has rightly captured the luscious greenery of Connor. Leon James' music has well complimented the camera works. The film has lavish production value and colourful visuals.
RJ Balaji's witty one-liners are definitely a highlighting factor.
Director Deekay has penned a genuine rom-com, but seems to have missed the flow in the midway. He could have tweaked his screenplay better by adding more details to the character.
A good rom-com!
