Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Movie review
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is an American science fiction adventure film directed by J. A. Bayona with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard reprising their roles from the previous installment, Jurassic World.
The film kicks off with DNA samples being taken from an underwater endangered species that is 120 miles away from the coast of Costa Rica. The purpose is later revealed to be to create man-made dinosaurs that are more terrifying than the ones that already exist.
In the meantime, the Jurassic Park from the original Jurassic Park films and featured minimally in the previous Jurassic World is on the verge of ruin after a volcano erupts leaving only a few dinosaurs running helter skelter to save their lives and that is when Chris Pratt as Owen Grady and Bryce Dallas Howard as Claire Dearing take it upon themselves to head for their rescue.
On the other hand, the gang that steals the DNA samples of the underwater endangered species come face to face with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard on a ship, which they managed to board upon their escape from the island of Isla Nublar.
What happens when these two polar opposite set of people come across each other amidst the presence of frightening dinosaurs pretty much forms the crux of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
In comparison to a rather bland first hour of the film, the remainder of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is a lot more interesting with exciting and pulsating action all throughout. Had director J. A. Bayona laid more emphasis on building a story, we could have gotten a better viewing experience.
Perhaps the biggest drawback with Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom would be its stature in comparison to its predecessor, Jurassic World, released in 2015.
While the previous film stood out in its grandeur, Fallen World falls short in that particular aspect, but makes up for it in other technical aspects such as the VFX, which is on point as per the narrative’s requirements.
On the performance front, Chris Pratt manages to tap into his funny bone spontaneously and also delivers a heartfelt performance yet again akin to the one in the previous installment. Bryce Dallas Howard has a lot more to do this and she has made good use of the opportunity - be it in the action sequences or the ones that require her to display her emotions and her wit.
By the time Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom draws to a close, fans are in for two big surprises - one being the lead to the third installment in the ongoing franchise set to release in 2021. Furthermore, a post-credits scene too is included in the film to tease us about the right amount for the third film.
