Irandam Ulagam Movie review
Selvaraghavan's Irandam Ulagam, as the title suggests, is a story of 2 different worlds, but with one commong thread - Love (or the lack of it)!
Earth: Madhu (Arya) is a good samaritan whom Ramya (Anushka) falls for at the first look itself. However, Madhu does not take Ramya's proposal seriously and brushes it off. By the time Madhu realises Ramya's love and goes behind her, she has already accepted a marriage proposal and is set to marry somebody else. Will Ramya change her mind and accept Madhu?
Other World: This second world is a mystical place where ferocious beasts roam. In this world, the inhabitants do not know anything about the concept of Love. The first person to feel love, unexpectedly, is a slave - Mahendra (Arya). He falls for Anushka and the two get married. However, not being able to understand the concept of love, the two separate. Then, there is Amma, who has special powers, and there are forces out to capture her.
As is the norm in a concept of two different planes, due to a time warp characters travel between worlds... Which character goes to which world, and do the two pairs get together? Will love prevail? Head over to a theatre near you to catch Irandam Ulagam for answers to all these questions!
As was evident from the trailers, Irandam Ulagam has a lot of Graphics in it and the movie travels between 2 worlds. Arya excels in one world and Anushka in the other. The graphically made up other world and the fantastic creatures in it are good. Anirudh's BGM keeps in tune with the movie and is a major plus. Selvaraghavan has brought in his trademark intensity to the movie, and every scene has his stamp on it. There are a number of twists and turns, some of which are predictable and most keep you engrossed throughout. Arya's fight sequence with a beast and Anushka's love proposal scene make for some enjoyable viewing. Ramji's cinematography is good, especially considering the amount of CG work in the movie. Harris Jayaraj's songs are already topping the charts. The visualisation of the songs could have been better. The action sequences have been well done.
Selvaraghavan's Irandam Ulagam is a wonderful fantasy and a unique out of the world attempt!
