Gethu Movie review
Starcast: Udhayanidhi Stalin, Sathyaraj, Amy Jackson, Karunakaran
Gethu is a story of a son trying to solve a crime that his father is accused of and find the real culprit. This leads to a cycle of revelations in connection to the case. A crime thriller that gives us pieces to complete the puzzle one by one.
The background score needs to be mentioned first as it is rendered extremely well by Harris Jayaraj. It adds necessary pace to sequences and also helps in the swift change of mood from scene to scene.
The cinematography by Sukumar is commendable, intensifying the scenes and making it more powerful. The beautiful locales, art direction and aesthetically shot scenes need a special mention.
Udhayanidhi has tried action for the first time and we must say that it has worked out really well. He should try more of it in future films.
Sathyaraj's role has a lot of weightage and he has done justice to the role given to him.
The story makes us curious and keeps us guessing what's going to happen next.
Amy Jackson's role neither makes an impact nor is significant enough for the script.
The script leaves a few loose ends incomplete.
It seems like the killer leaves deliberate clues for the hero to trace him.
The placement of songs in the movie seems abrupt and unnecessary.
Verdict: A visually appealing crime-thriller that lacks a strong screenplay.
