Achaaram Movie review
Achcharam aka Acharam is a romantic action movie starring Ganesh Venkatraman and Poonam Kaur. This village based story is directed by Mohan Krishna, a good friend and former associate of Radhamohan. The music of the film is scored by Srikanth Deva while the dialogues are penned by CP Narayanan of Abhiyum Naanum fame. The story revolves around a sincere Police officer (Ganesh Venkatraman), who loves his mother Rekha abundantly. The loving mother persuades him to accept getting married. Though he refuses in the beginning, at one particular point he agrees to marry. His mom begins to search for a suitable bride for him and finally zeroes in on Poonam Kaur, a Tanjore girl, for him. Poonam Kaur who works in a private company acts conservative at home and modern outside home. She does not like the marriage as she is in a relationship with a champ named Simon from the city. Since she couldn't tell about her relationship to her parents, she elopes with her lover on the day of her marriage. The hero's mother who couldn't tolerate the shocking news commits suicide immediately by shooting herself with a gun. The vexed Ganesh has a grudge against Poonam Kaur and Simon who were the reason for his mom's death and he decides to kill them. Will he find the couple or not and what he does if he finds them, forms the rest of the story. To know what happens next, watch Achcharam... Ganesh Venkatraman who plays the role of a police officer has done full justice to his character. The audience's heart thumps every time he comes on the screen, especially in the romantic scenes. His attempt at dancing for a kuthu number is also quite appreciable. The glamorous heroine Poonam Kaur has managed to cope up with the language despite being a North Indian. The second handsome hero of the film Simon has also done a good job. Rekha who played the role of Ganesh's mother showcased her experienced acting. Director Mohan Krishna has delivered a beautiful village story through the film. The dialogues could have been better though. Songs by Srikanth Deva are soothing to the ears and the background score has enhanced the mood of the film. Though the majority of the scenes are taken in the night, the cinematographer has given a visual treat to the audiences. Watch the film for a power-packed performance from Ganesh Venkatraman.
