60 Vayadu Maaniram is a drama/thriller film directed by Radha Mohan. The film features Vikram Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Indhuja and Samuthirakani in lead roles. Music is scored by Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja and the movie is produced under Kalaipuli S. Thanu’s V Creations. 60 Vayathu Maaniram movie is the official remake of 2016 Kannada film Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu.
A 60-year-old man Govindharaj (Prakash Raj) who suffers from Alzheimer's disease goes missing. His son Shiva (Vikram Prabhu) along with Dr. Archana (Indhuja) set about on a search to find him. Meanwhile, Govindaraj lands himself in the middle of a crime scene with a killer (Samuthirakani). Whether Shiva finds his father and how Govindharaj manages to escape the killer spans out to be the rest of the story.
60 Vayadu Maaniram is a performance filled movie as everyone in it has given subtle performances that are required for the script. The film is more important to Vikram Prabhu than anyone else as he is on a lean patch and 60VM could be a turn around for the actor. After her stirring performances in Meeyaadha Maan and Mercury, Indhuja has followed it up with yet another rousing performance.
Prakash Raj is tailor-made for such performance-oriented characters and Radha Mohan is one of the few who can give Prakash Raj a different shade than what others usually do. Samuthirakani holds his place in the story with his performance as well. Elango Kumaravel adds the fun element from time to time.
Even though its a remake, Radha Mohan could have worked more on the screenplay to convey the emotions more clearly. Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja's music could have elevated the situations a little more to provide the perfect impact. Some cinematic moments in the movie reduces the emotional values in the script. Comedy one-liners don't fit at times. There is not much support from the technical side as well. Small romantic portions between Vikram Prabhu and Indhuja is good to watch. Portions, where Prakash Raj is involved, are handled well. 60 Vayadu Maaniram film can be an enjoyable one if you can relate to the characters.
Verdict: An emotional drama that fell short of connectivity.
