Comic book characters Archie Andrews and his friends will be seen in an Indian film version on Netflix. In November of 2021, Zoya Akhtar announced that she was to collaborate with Netflix to direct a live-action feature film adaptation of The Archies and the filmmaker has begun shooting for the upcoming flick today (April 18|). The over-the-top (OTT) streaming platform has partnered with Archie Comics for the film which will be set in 1960s India.

Taking to their Twitter handle, Netflix India shared an image of a clapboard with details of the first shot of The Archies movie captioning the post as, "Milkshakes for everyone because THE ARCHIES MOVIE IS NOW FILMING", followed by some necessary tags. It is not certain which storyline from the Archie series the film will be focusing on the coming-of-age teenage drama looks promising judging by the looks of it.

The Archies will be featuring and launching the careers of three celebrity kids who will all be making their big Bollywood debut - Shah Rukh Khan's daughter Suhana Khan, late actress Sridevi's younger daughter Khushi Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan's grandson, Agastya Nanda. Reports suggest that Agastya Nanda will be taking on the titular role of Archie Andrews, Suhana Khan will be seen playing Veronica Lodge, and Khushi Kapoor will feature as Betty Cooper. The rest of the cast has not yet been revealed and it will be interesting to see the others who will make the cut.

The Archies will be produced by Graphic India as well as Zoya and her longtime collaborator Reema Kagti under their production house Tiger Baby. This film will be the duo's 7th movie together after churning out some highly impactful films like Rock On!!, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Bombay Talkies, Dil Dhadakne Do, Gully Boy, and the upcoming film Jee Le Zaraa.
