Thalapathy Vijay is currently in Hyderabad for the second leg of the shoot of his upcoming family drama, Thalapathy 66, directed by Vamshi Paidipally of Oopiri and Maharshi fame. The film features Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead, marking her first association with Vijay and second project in Tamil cinema after Karthi's Sulthan. Ace actor Sarath Kumar and Shaam would be playing pivotal roles in this film. Now, the team has welcomed one more actor to the star cast of Thalapathy 66 and this update has set the fans in excitement. Comedy sensation Yogi Babu has been roped in to play a comic role in Thalapathy 66 and he has joined the sets of the film already.

The second schedule, which is taking place currently, will mostly comprise of the talkie portions featuring the central cast of the film. Yogi Babu himself officially confirmed the news about acting in the Vijay starrer through a Twitter post which has gone viral among the fans. Yogi Babu has acted in four Vijay films - Mersal, Sarkar, Bigil, and the recently released Beast and Thalapathy 66 will mark his fifth time association with the star actor. Produced by Dil Raju under the banner of Sri Venkateswara Creations, the film will have music composed by S Thaman who will be scoring music for a Vijay starrer for the first time.

Thaman is in great form in the recent past and we can expect him to deliver quality chartbuster numbers, serving as a treat for fans. Thalapathy 66 is said to be a heart touching emotional drama with strong emotions and family sentiment. The film will also have its fair share of action, comedies, songs, and other commercial elements. Thalapathy 66 will have editing by Praveen KL and cinematography by Karthick Palani of Adipurush and Penguin fame. Vivek will be penning the lyrics and dialogues for the film, apart from the additional screenplay. Details regarding the release plans of the film are yet to be known and further details are awaited.
