Veteran actor and playwright Y Gee Mahendran's mother, Rajalakshmi Parthasarathy passed away a few hours back in Chennai. The cause of death is said to be a cardiac arrest. Her life expired at Apollo Hospitals, Greams Road, where she was admitted for treatment. Rajalakshmi was 93 years old when she breathed her last. According to the official updates, her mortal remains will be placed at PSBB School, Bharat Kalachar in T Nagar, this evening for the public to pay their final respects. The cremation will happen tomorrow (August 7) evening around 4 PM at Besant Nagar.

For the uninformed, Rajalakshmi was a renowned educationalist, journalist, and social worker. She is also the founder of Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan (PSBB) Group of Schools, which is a renowned name in Chennai. Rajalakshmi is also a recipient of Padma Shri and she was honoured for her immense contribution to the field of education and literature.
