Tamil film producer and actor RK Suresh's Visithiran has been announced for a worldwide theatrical release on May 20. An official remake of the hit 2018 Malayalam film Joseph, which featured Jagame Thandhiram fame Joju George in the lead role, the upcoming Tamil version has been directed by M. Padmakumar, who also helmed the original, and is produced under National Award-winning filmmaker Bala's B Studios banner. Visithiran has RK Suresh reprising Joju George's role and is his second collaboration with Bala after he was cast as the antagonist in the acclaimed director's 2016 film, Tharai Thappattai

Chart-buster composer G. V. Prakash Kumar is the music director for Visithiran, with the film's audio launched at a grand event in Chennai sometime back. Speaking at the event, Bala had informed fans that the Tamil remake of Joseph will be better than the original version, while also expressing his joy at producing the venture under his home banner. As in line with the Malayalam version, RK Suresh had bulked up for Visithiran and is said to have put on 22 kilos for his role. Being released worldwide by RK Suresh's Studio 9 banner, the Tamil crime thriller film stars Poorna (Shamna Kasim), and Madhu Shalini in the lead roles, while Ilavarasu, Marimuthu, Jorge, Bagavathi Perumal, Jayaprakash will be appearing in pivotal roles.

Visithiran's story revolves around a retired police officer's investigation of a series of cold-blooded murders, with the makers also releasing an intriguing teaser on New Year’s day. Visithiran also includes several talented names in its technical team among whom are cinematographer Vetri Mahendran, editor Sathish Suriya, art director Mayapandi, while the dialogues are written by Mahendran, the director of 'Thalapathy' Vijay's Sachein. As for director Bala, he will be teaming up with Suriya for a film to be produced under the actor-producer's 2D Entertainment banner and will mark their reunion after the duo earlier collaborated in Nandha and Pithamagan.
