Despite heavy tension that is going around Kamal Haasan's Vishwaroopam in Tamil Nadu, the film has been released in Karnataka amidst tight security. The film has been released in over 40 screens in the state, including 17 in Bangalore and all the screens are running housefull! Accepting the request made by the Muslim leaders to add "All Muslims are not terrorists" to the film, to the City Police Commissioner Jyothiprakash Mirji, it has been decided to release the film by adding the line in the credits. Mirji viewed the film on January 27 and felt there was nothing objectionable in it.
Kamal Haasan has appealed to the Chennai High Court following the ban imposed on Vishwaroopam by the Tamil Nadu government, due to some Muslim organizations protesting against the content of the film. The hearing is in progress currently in the Chennai HC, and everyone are eagerly waiting for the judgment. The film was supposed to release on January 25.
