Ever since the release of Vikram, the film has gone to perform very well at the box office and has also been getting rave reviews from fans and critics alike in the process. The film has exceeded expectations and continues to rule as people are still seen flocking into theatres to catch the movie for the second, third, or even fourth time.

The high octane action thriller was released worldwide on 3 June 2022 in multiple languages including Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Malayalam. The film has now officially entered the elite 400 crore club during its 4th week running in theatres. Vikram is the only Tamil film after the 2018 Superstar Rajinikanth starrer 2.0 to achieve this feat. The film, which has been declared an all-time hit considering its success at the box office, both domestic and worldwide, was marching towards the Rs, 400 crore mark globally as it holds more than 700 screens worldwide.

This film written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced by Raaj Kamal Films International, stars Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan, Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil in the lead while Kalidas Jayaram, Narain, and Chemban Vinod Jose played supporting roles with Suriya in a special cameo appearance. This film marks the Universal Hero's comeback film as he was last seen in the espionage action thriller Vishwaroopam II which released 4 years back in 2018.

The movie is a spiritual successor to the same-named movie from 1986. Haasan portrays a RAW agent Arun Kumar Vikram, aka Agent Vikram, in the film. RAW is India's external intelligence agency. The film serves as the second installment in the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU). The plot seems to continue from the 2019 film Kaithi and follows a black-ops squad led by Amar (Fahadh Faasil) tracking down masked vigilantes, while he learns of a drug syndicate group called Vetti Vagaiyara, led by Sandhanam (Vijay Sethupathi), who wants the missing drugs to be delivered to his cold-blooded boss Rolex.
