Blockbuster Bollywood film director Vikram Bhatt married art connoisseur Shwetambari Soni in an intimate wedding ceremony in September 2020. The news was revealed by the filmmaker's brother, Mahesh Bhatt, in an interview to ETimes who said the wedding took place during the lockdown period last year. Mahesh Bhatt said, "Vikram Bhatt got married last September during the peak of the lockdown. He called me and said, 'Boss I am getting married and since there is a restriction on the number of people who can be invited for the marriage ceremony and also keeping your health concerns in mind in these COVID times, I will not burden you and ask you to come. But we are going to keep this under the wraps.'"

During his conversation with Vikram Bhatt, Mahesh Bhatt predicted that the news of the wedding would not be a secret for long. "I said, 'Vikram you are like a cat, drinking milk with his eyes closed, thinking nobody is watching. This is the age of invasive media, be sure your marriage won't stay hidden for long'," Mahesh Bhatt stated. On Wednesday, Vikram Bhatt posted a romantic post dedicated to Shwetambari Soni on the occasion of her birthday. He wrote, "You turned me inside out. And you showed me what life was about. Only you. The only one that stole my heart away. I wanna do all I can just to show you. Make you understand. Only you. The only one that stole my heart away. Happy birthday me love."

Shwetambari Soni's Instagram photos from last year reveal what appear to be simple wedding festivities. Reputed make-up artist Namrata Soni, sister of Shwetambari, too shared pictures of the wedding last year and wrote, "Nothing would ever do justice in describing just how beautiful my sister looked that day." She also posted photos from Shwetambari's mehendi function and captioned them: "It was indeed special to dress you up, and even harder to take my eyes off." Vikram Bhatt has garnered a following over the years with his films in the horror and thriller genre among which include Ghulam, Raaz, 1920, Kasoor, Aetbaar and 1921 to name a notable few.
