Thunivu and Varisu were both highly anticipated flicks of year that were released on the same day, on 11th February. The films created a sensation among Tamil cinema fans as Thunivu had 'Thala' Ajith in lead role while Varisu had 'Thalapathy' Vijay as lead. The films were also consequently released on OTT platforms Netflix and Prime Video. As it’s going to be 50 days since their initial release in theatres, a prominent multiplex in Chennai revealed they will host the celebrations.
Rohini Silver Screens is set to host the celebrations for both the films. They posted on twitter announcing Thunivu celebrations that “It's Time to Celebrate 50 Days of Mega-hit #Thunivu" and stated they will host the 50th day celebrations on February 25th Saturday at Fans Fort Rohini and added a link to book tickets. Vijay’s Tamil and Telugu bilingual Varisu celebrations will be on February 26, Sunday at the same venue. The multiplex made the announcement saying "Get Ready #Thalapathy Bloods lets celebrate 50 days of Blockbuster #Varisu". Fans can celebrate the films of their favourite stars reaching a milestone after running successfully for 50 days at the events.
Thunivu, directed by H Vinodh, shows Ajith in a cool new look and features Manju Warrier, John Kokken, Samuthirakani, GM Sundar, Mahanadi Shankar, Bala Saravanan, Prem, Bigg Boss fame Pavani Reddy, Cibi and Cook with Comali fame Dharshan in supporting roles. The heist thriller film was welcomed well among audience. Music for the film was composed by Ghibran

Varisu, directed by prominent Telugu director Vamshi Paidipally, is a family entertainer has Vijay playing the role of Vijay Rajendran, son of a business magnate. The film also features a star cast of Rashmika Mandanna, Sangeetha, Sarath Kumar, Shaam, Jayasudha, Prakash Raj, Yogi Babu, Prabhu, SJ Surya, Sathish and others. The film has music composed by Thaman.
