It's Thalapathy 68 mania everywhere ever since the film's announcement came out on Sunday taking fans by a big surprise. With the upcoming Vijay-starrer to be directed by filmmaker Venkat Prabhu continuing to be widely debated on social media, hit Malayalam director Alphonse Puthren has now revealed how the upcoming film has made his 2023 New Year wishes come true. Known best for his 2015 blockbuster, Premam, Alphonse quote-tweeted his own tweet from earlier this year in which he goes on to share some of the collaborations he would like to see happen. Among them were also films with actors Vijay and Ajith Kumar under the direction of filmmakers like Venkat Prabhu, Shankar, Mani Ratnam, Karthik Subbaraj, Lokesh (Kanagaraj) and Pradeep Ranganathan.

Alphonse Puthren's tweet about Vijay teaming up with Venkat Prabhu or any of the other leading directors he mentioned on New Year's Day has been echoed by fans too over the last few months, with the announcement now leaving many delighted. Venkat Prabhu too has since responded to Alphonse's tweet thanking him for his wishes on boarding Thalapathy 68. Venkat Prabhu and Vijay will be teaming up for the first time in Thalapathy 68 being produced under the prestigious AGS Entertainment banner featuring music by chart-topping composer Yuvan Shankar Raja. The film is slated to open in theatres worldwide in 2024 and is the second time AGS Entertainment is working with Vijay after the 2019 box office money-spinner, Bigil.
Having made his comeback earlier this year with Gold starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and 'Lady Superstar' Nayanthara, a small section of fans were a little disappointed the film wasn't along the lines of Alphonse Puthren's Premam or Neram. The hit director is currently working on his next big film, Paattu, which has him joining hands with National Award-winning Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil, while Nayanthara is appearing as the female lead.
