Tamil superstar Vijay, who is riding the high wave after the stellar opening to his Beast, which was released in theatres last week, is currently working on his next, the tentatively titled Thalapathy 66. Vamshi Paidipally, who is best known for his Thozha and Maharshi, is directing the upcoming film, which is billed to be a family-centric venture along the lines of Vijay's Poove Unakkaga and Thulladha Manamum Thullum, and is being produced under blockbuster Telugu films producer-distributor Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Creations banner. With production on Thalapathy 66 flagging off a few days back in Chennai after a formal pooja that saw Vijay and the film's female lead Rashmika Mandanna take part in the proceedings, the excitement for the film has been high, with composer S. Thaman taking to social media once again on Monday to post a photo of himself and this time along with Vamshi and Dil Raju during their recent get together.

Thaman, who is known for keeping fans constantly updated on the projects he embarks upon, had earlier revealed that Vijay's performance on day one of the shooting was "mind-blowing". Thalapathy 66 marks the first time Thaman is composing for a Vijay film and has been a long-awaited dream come true moment for the blockbuster music director, with expectations high among fans for him to deliver a sensational album that will best any work he has done during the course of his glorious career.
