Actor Vijay is teaming up with director Vamshi Paidipally of Thozha and Maharshi fame for his Thalapathy 66, which is being planned to be made on a grand scale by Telugu film producer Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Creations banner. In that light, Dil Raju in a new interview to a Telugu media house, has revealed that Thalapathy 66 will be a family-centric story, while referring to Vijay's Poove Unakkaga and Thulladha Manamum Thullum that won the hearts of the audiences at the time of their releases during the 1990s. The hit producer has further stated that Vamshi is working to bring out the best output for the upcoming film's plot, while adding that he was most impressed with his one-line for the story, which got him instantly excited. Dil Raju said that Thalapathy 66 will be a heart-touching family entertainer and a complete package of action and good songs. Watch the video below: 

The shooting for Thalapathy 66 is yet to kick off, with pre-production works currently underway. Earlier, Dil Raju had revealed to another Telugu media house that the film will flag off its production in March if there is no delay due to Covid, while adding that the team is planning for a Diwali 2022 release. He added that they would make sure Vijay's Thalapathy 66 will come out in theatres for Sankranti / Pongal 2023 in case it misses its Diwali release plans. As of now, it is being reported that the film is being planned to be made as a bilingual in Tamil and Telugu, with the rest of the cast and crew yet to be officially announced. 

Social media has been abuzz about Thalapathy 66 over the past week after Dil Raju's statements as fans are expressing their excitement in wanting to witness Vijay once again in a full-fledged family story considering the superstar has been seen in out-and-out mass action roles over the last few years. Many are saying that it will be a refreshing change and a trip down memory lane for the fans, who grew up watching Vijay in the early stages of his career in family-oriented films.
