It was already reported that director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s debut film Maanagaram is going to be remade in Hindi under the direction of ace cinematographer Santosh Sivan. The news made the fans excited and look forward to the project. Vikrant Massey who attained popularity as an actor through films like Lootera, Dil Dhadakne Do, A Death In The Gunj, Lipstick Under My Burkha, Chhapaak, will be playing one of the leads and if reports are to be believed, he would be reprising Sundeep Kishan’s character. The Hindi remake is now in the pre production stages and the makers are planning to go on floors from the first week of January 2021.

Details regarding the other male lead and the female lead is yet to be known and we will update about it in the coming days. The film has been planned to be shot completely in Mumbai and the shoot will happen mostly at nights, as the film's story deals with the incidents that happen in one night. It is going to be interesting to see how Santosh Sivan and team is going to make changes from the original to suit the taste of the Hindi audience. This untitled Hindi remake will be produced by Shibu Thameens under the banner of Thameens Films.

The latest exciting update about the film is that Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi has been signed to play an important role in the film. Though an official confirmation is awaited, this news has excited the fans. We are yet to know what role is going to be played by Vijay Sethupathi as there are a lot of important characters in Maanagaram. If this news happens to be true, this film will be Vijay Sethupathi’s second Hindi film after Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha.

Talking about Maanagaram, this Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial was a hyperlink story that connects four different stories together at one juncture. The film was raved by the critics during its release and it picked up at the box office after the positive reviews. The film was lauded for its strong writing, gripping screenplay and neat packaging. Maanagaram was produced by SR Prabhu and SR Prakash Babu under the banner of Potential Studios and it was released in March 2017. The film’s star cast included Onaayum Aattukuttiyum fame Sri, Sundeep Kishan, Regina Cassandra, Charlie, Madhusudhan Rao, Munishkanth, Vivek Prasanna and others. Post the release of Maanagaram, there has been no lookback for Lokesh Kanagaraj and the young talent is geared up to begin shooting for his untitled next with Kamal Haasan.
