Vijay Deverakonda's Liger is all set for a world television premiere on Sunday, January 8, at 12 p.m. on Vijay Super after it opened in cinemas in 2022. The sports action film written and directed by Puri Jagannadh and produced by Karan Johar, Puri Jagannadh, and Charmme Kaur under their Dharma Productions and Puri Connects banners was released on August 25 in theatres in five different languages - Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi, and revolved around martial arts, dreams, and two star-crossed lovers.

Vijay Deverakonda played Liger, an MMA fighter who trains hard and rises up the ranks with one goal in mind, to fight like his idol, Mark Anderson. In his journey of becoming an MMA fighter, he falls in love with an aspiring model, Tanya Pandey, played by youth sensation Ananya Panday. What does fate have in store for these star-crossed lovers and whether Liger ever fulfills his dream of meeting his idol, Mark Anderson, forms the crux of this highly entertaining, adrenaline rush-filled blend of determination, dreams, relationships, action, and love.

Originally shot in Hindi and Telugu, Liger took a sensational opening in theatres at the time of its release last year and saw Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday sharing screen space with Ramya Krishna, Ronit Roy, Vish, Ali, Makarand Deshpande, Getup Srinu, Chunky Panday among others, while former American professional boxer Mike Tyson appeared in an extended cameo as Mark Anderson. The film marked Vijay Deverakonda's Bollywood debut, with the worldwide theatrical rights reported to be valued to be the highest for any film in the Telugu superstar's career. AA Films and Sri Karthikeya Cinemas acquired the distribution rights for the film, followed by Star India Network and Disney+ Hotstar bagging the satellite rights and the digital rights for streaming, respectively.
