Vijay Antony's Pichaikkaran 2 is out in theatres and has taken a positive start, with the film's Telugu version, Bichagadu 2, as well receiving a strong response. The action drama marks the directorial debut isn't a sequel to the 2016 blockbuster, Pichaikkaran, and is more a standalone film with new characters and a new premise. With Pichaikkaran 2 now turning out to be a success, Vijay Antony addressed media persons on Sunday to thank fans for their support, while also surprising everyone with the news that Pichaikkaran 3 is indeed in development.
Speaking at the press meet, Vijay Antony informed that he plans to begin Pichaikkaran 3 mostly in 2025 while revealing that the story will be completely different from the first two films. Regarding who will be the director of Pichaikkaran 3, he went on to reveal that he might probably take charge once again. Pichaikkaran 2, which marked the filmmaking debut of Vijay Antony, is doing terrific business at the box office, with the hit composer-turned-actor last week announcing that the Tamil version of the film had collected 3.25 crores on day 1, while Bichagadu 2 raked in 4.5 crores in the Telugu states.
With both Pichaikkaran 2 and Bichagadu 2 now out in theatres, Vijay Antony will hope to keep up the momentum and be hopeful for positive results to come out from the film's Kannada and Malayalam versions, Bhikshuka 2 and Bhikshakkaran 2, are yet to be released in theatres. Vijay Antony, who has directed, composed the music, and starred in the lead role in Pichaikkaran 2, has shared screen space with Kavya Thapar, Dato Radha Ravi, Y Gee Mahendran, Mansoor Ali Khan, Hareesh Peradi, John Vijay, Dev Gill, Yogi Babu, among others appearing key roles. Initially thought to be a sequel to the 2016 blockbuster, Pichaikkaran, Vijay Antony later informed that the film is a standalone venture.
