Vijay Antony is set to turn director next with his Pichaikkaran 2 after tasting massive success with his recent outing, Kodiyil Oruvan, which received strong feedback from fans in theatres. The composer turned hero, who currently is also attached to films like Thamezharasan, Agni Siragugal, Khaki and Kolai, has now officially announced his next titled Mazhai Pidikatha Manithan, which has been revealed to be a direct sequel to his 2014 box office hit, Salim. Furthermore, blockbuster veteran actor 'Supreme Star' Sarathkumar too has joined the cast of the upcoming film, which will include Enai Noki Paayum Thota fame Megha Akash as the female lead and is being planned for a mid-2022 release. 

Being produced by Kamal Bohra, Lalitha Dhananjayan, Pradeep B, Pankaj Bohra, and S. Vikram Kumar under the Infiniti Film Ventures banner, Mazhai Pidikatha Manithan or Salim 2 is written and directed by cinematographer turned filmmaker Vijay Milton, who is known for his films like Goli Soda and 10 Endrathukulla. The action-entertainer will be the first-ever Tamil film to be extensively shot in Daman-Diu and also marks popular Kannada actors Dhananjaya and Pruthvi Ambar making their debut in Tamil cinema. The others in Mazhai Pidikatha Manithan’s star cast include Saranya Ponvannan, Murali Sharma, Thalaivaasal Vijay, Surender Thakur, Praniti, while director Ramana of Thirumalai, Sullan and Aathi fame will be seen playing a pivotal character.

Director Vijay Milton has created a unique storyline for Mazhai Pidikatha Manithan that chronologically traverses through the ten chapters in the protagonist’s life, with the story confirmed to be a continuation of Salim. Apart from writing and directing the film, Vijay Milton has handled the cinematography, with Vijay Antony composing the songs, while Achu Rajamani is taking care of the background score. Mazhai Pidikatha Manithan or Salim 2's technical team includes names like editor Leo John Paul, art director K. Arusamy, 'Supreme' Sundar for the stunts, choreographer Sridhar, costume designer Shimona Stalin, Mahesh Jayachandran taking care of the stills and Pawan (Sindhu Graphics) in the role of publicity designer.
