Blockbuster Tamil filmmaker Vignesh Shivan will commence the shooting of the tentatively titled AK 62 with Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar in the lead role. Being produced under the Lyca Productions banner and featuring music by chart-buster composer 'Rockstar' Anirudh Ravichander, the hype for the upcoming film is getting bigger by the day with sky-high expectations for it to be a crackling entertainer. Vignesh Shivan, whose Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal starring Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara, and Samantha was released recently, sat down with National Award-winning film critic Baradwaj Rangan and the Editor-in-Chief of Galatta Plus for an exclusive interview and shared his thoughts about experimentation in Ajith Kumar's AK 62

Upon being queried about AK 62 and whether he will experiment as he did in Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal, Vignesh Shivan states, "If you look at it from an image-wise perspective and take a film like Ajith sir's Vaalee, he needed a conviction before accepting to do the roles. Imagine the two roles and if anybody were to ask him, 'How can a person desire to be with his sibling's wife? Isn't it wrong?', then that script would not have gone forward. It's an impossible situation. And, amid that impossible scenario, his performance stood out. It was his performance that made everyone truly believe. The reason Vaalee worked exceptionally well was because of the manner in which the roles were performed and the difference in the presentation of his acting skills."

As of now, not much is known about AK 62, including the cast and the crew details, which are expected to be announced in the days ahead. The film marks the first-time collaboration between Ajith Kumar, Vignesh Shivan, and Lyca Productions and there is massive excitement in the air for the venture to hit a high note.
