National Award-winning Tamil filmmaker Vetri Maaran's Viduthalai is a two-parter and will see comedy actor Soori in the lead role for the first time in his career, while 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi is appearing in an extended cameo. Produced under the RS Infotainment banner by Elred Kumar, who is best known for bankrolling Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, Ko, Neethaane En Ponvasantham, and Yaamirukka Bayamey to name a notable few films, the upcoming police drama has music composed by 'Isaignani' Ilaiyarajaa and is being released across Tamil Nadu by Red Giant Movies.
Viduthalai: Part 1 is the first big theatrical release for Vetri Maaran after his Asuran in 2019 and the upcoming film's trailer has been released amidst massive excitement on Wednesday, March 8. The trailer starts off with the police force in full strength being introduced and Gautham Vasudev Menon and Chethan being shown as senior cops. The police is after Vijay Sethupathi, who is playing Perumal, the leader of the rebel faction People's Army, with filmmaker Tamizh also shown in the midst as an officer in charge of a battalion in which Soori is a police constable. Director Rajiv Menon is also seen playing the role of an administrative officer addressing the press and informing the government's goal to capture Permual - dead or alive.
The Viduthalai: Part 1 trailer predominantly revolves around the police on the hunt for Vijay Sethupathi as Perumal and Soori trying to prove his worth in the police, who is also shown to be in love with Bhavani Sri. The visuals transition between the police searching for Perumal and Soori stepping in to help the force, with the final shot revealing the rebel leader being held under custody at gunpoint by Gautham Menon.
