Vetri maaran reveals viduthalai shooting after release date announcement - Tamil Movie Cinema News

Vetri Maaran is a path-breaking director of the Tamil film industry who has been delivering blockbuster films over the years. The recent film made by the director was Viduthalai Part: 1 which was released in theatres on March 31. The film got positive feedback from the audience and set the plot for the second part of the film. It featured actor Soori as the lead for the first time and had Vijay Sethupathi in an important role. The film also has background score and song tracks composed by Isaignani Ilayaraja. The director’s cut or the extended version of Viduthalai Part:1 was released on the streaming platform Zee 5 on April 28.

The filmmakers Vetri Maaran and the actors of the film who are also directors Gautham Vasudev Menon and Rajiv Menon shared interesting details about Viduthalai Part: 1 extended version in a recent interview with National Award winning film critic Baradwaj Rangan, the editor in chief of Galatta Plus. The interviewer asked about how and when the process of making a film comes to an end. The director Vetri Maaran said “Balu Mahendra Sir often says no filmmaker complete his films. He just abandons it. At which point you abandon, decides whether you are a decent filmmaker or a good filmmaker. For me, until I can make a change in the film I will make it. After that, I will not watch it because If I watch it I will want to make further changes. That is the way it is."

"Here (Viduthalai Part: 1) the problem was however we did it, it keeps morphing and we did not have the courage to say this is fine, this will work. We were really struggling around with the saying, there were many characters they had good and bad shades in the film. At the end of the film, I wanted Kumerasan to save the girl but, I did not want Vaathiyaar to get caught. There is no one person with whom we are watching the film. We are not rooting for the protagonist. The DSP comes through as a nice guy but in the next scene, he is scary. So, the greyness in the film was very challenging and we did not know where and how and when to finish? When the release date was announced it was very challenging and I thought I wouldn’t be able to do it. I though about it for three days and then I said to the producer 31st we will do it. They were relieved but, I did not know. We shot for four days after we fixed the release date. So, we were trying to add stuff close ups, we were shooting and then kept on adding. As I always say, this is not the right way to make films but we are making it happen that's all…", said the director Vetri Maaran. Check out the full interview:
