Blockbuster filmmaker Venkat Prabhu's next film, Custody, starring Naga Chaitanya in the lead role, will be released in theatres worldwide on May 12, 2023. The hit director dropped the big update on social media and confirmed that the Telugu-Tamil bilingual will open in cinemas as a grand summer release next year. Custody has created a lot of excitement among fans as it also includes the father-son duo 'Maestro' Ilaiyaraaja and Yuvan Shankar Raja for the film's songs and background score, and is their next big collaboration after 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi's Maamanithan released earlier this year, and fans expect the musical giants to deliver an electrifying album.

Produced by Srinivasaa Chitturi under the Srinivasaa Silver Screen banner and being presented by Pavan Kumar, Custody has Naga Chaitanya sharing screen space with youth sensation Krithi Shetty, who has garnered a massive fan following in recent times and is yet another big highlight in the film. The upcoming film also includes an ensemble star cast featuring the likes of Arvind Swami, Sarathkumar, Priyamani,  Sampath Raj, Premji, Vennela Kishore, Premi Vishwanath, among others in pivotal roles. There is quite a lot of buzz surrounding Custody as it will see Naga Chaitanya playing the role of a police officer and it will be interesting to witness him donning the khakhi for his powerful role. Announced earlier this year, the film was initially tentatively titled NC22 and expectations are high for Venkat Prabhu to come out with yet another thorough theatre entertainer. The filmmaker stunned Tamil cinema audiences with his Maanaadu starring Silambarasan TR in 2020 but didn't receive similar feedback for his Manmadha Leelai released earlier this year, and he will no doubt be looking to come out all guns blazing once again.
