Silambarasan TR's Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu is currently the talk of the town for the obvious reasons. The film which released in theatres on September 15 amidst huge expectations is performing exceptionally well at the box office, especially in the A centres. The film became the highest ever opener for a Silambarasan TR film and is now on its way to becoming a blockbuster. The film has already entered the profit zone for the people involved in the trade and STR's success streak continues. A few weeks before the release, it was officially announced that Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu will be made as a two-part film and the update got the fans excited.

Director Gautham Vasudev Menon revealed that the second part will be made depending on the reception that the first part gets and as anticipated, the first part has opened to favourable reviews. Though the film has received mixed reviews from a section of the audience, the reports have been majorly positive, paving the way for the second part. That being said, producer Ishari K Ganesh, opened up for the first time about the sequel of VTK in his recent exclusive interview with Galatta Tamil. The reputed producer revealed that the sequel will be shot on a grand scale and will be released as a pan-Indian film.

Talking about it, he said, "Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu 2 is going to be a pan-Indian film and it will release in 5 languages (Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam). It will surely be a visual treat for the fans. The second part will be bigger in terms of production value and scale. The genre of the second part is different and since he has become a don now, the second part will be bigger and grander. It will be in a completely different colour from the first one". Ishari K Ganesh also added that there are chances of Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu becoming a franchise with more parts, if the second part receives a positive response.
