Ajith Kumar's Valimai directed by H. Vinoth, produced under Boney Kapoor's Bayview Projects LLP banner in association with Zee Studios and featuring music by Yuvan Shankar Raja has been postponed from its Pongal theatrical release. The makers announced the big news on Thursday in an official statement on social media that is as follows: "Audiences and fans have always been the source of our felicity. Their unconditional support and love during the hard times, instilled vital hopes in us to face the hardships, and successfully complete our dream project. All that we desired during every single moment was to see them cheerful and happy in the cinema halls. At the same time, the safety and well-being of our audiences has always been at the forefront of all our decisions. Given the steep rise in Covid infections across the globe, and abiding by the regulations of the authorities, we have decided to postpone the release of our film 'Valimai' until the situation normalises." The Valimai team also requested fans to follow all safety protocols to keep themselves safe from Covid-10. They said, "Get vaccinated, wear a mask and stay safe. See you in theatres very soon!" Below is the official statement:

The news of Valimai's release getting postponed will no doubt come as a big disappointment for Ajith's fans considering they have been waiting for the film to arrive in theatres for a long time. The action thriller was first announced in 2019, with production taking a setback due to the pandemic in 2020 after which the shooting resumed once again as per the safety protocols across various locations in India and abroad. Valimai has been carrying massive hopes in the trade circle as distributors and theatre owners have been looking forward to releasing the Ajith-starrer, which will be the superstar's first release after he delivered back-to-back blockbusters in 2019 with his Viswasam and Nerkonda Paarvai

The postponement of Valimai might come as a big heartbreak for Ajith's fans for now, but is also the need of the hour. Fans will heed the words of the actor in the hopes of witnessing him in action on the big screen once the situation everywhere gets back to being normal. Apart from Ajith, Valimai includes an ensemble cast featuring Telugu actor Kartikeya Gummakonda as the antagonist, Huma Qureshi as the female lead, followed by Bani, Sumithra, Achyunth Kumar, Yogi Babu, Raj Ayyappa, Pugazh among others in pivotal roles.
