Leading South Indian actress Trisha Krishnan on late Friday evening revealed that she tested positive for Covid-19 before the New Year and has been on the road to recovery after getting vaccinated. Appealing to fans to do the same and also mask up, Trisha informed that she is hoping to return to Chennai soon after clearing her tests. Sharing her statement on Twitter, Trisha wrote, "Despite taking all the precautions and safety measures, I tested positive just a little before the New Year. You name the symptoms, I had it! Even tho it was one of my most harrowing weeks, I am recovering and feel better today thanks to my vaccinations. I request everyone to do the same and mask up. Hoping to clear my tests and fly back home soon. My heartfelt thanks to the best family and friends I have and for all the prayers." Below is Trisha's statement: 

Trisha, who recently completed 19 years in the film industry, will be looking to bounce back soon from her treatment and be Covid-free. The actress has garnered a massive fan following since her entry into the industry, with her popularity reaching heights in the 2000s. After her debut as a heroine opposite Suriya in Mounam Pesiyadhe in 2002, Trisha soon went on to become one of the most sought-after names in Tamil cinema, while also making a transition to the Telugu film industry. Having appeared in over 50 across all southern languages and a couple of Hindi ventures, the actress has shared screen space with top superstars in her career spanning nearly two decades. 

Seen in Paramapadham Vilayattu last year, which premiered directly on Disney+ Hotstar, Trisha has a number of films lined up ahead starting with ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam's ambitious dream venture Ponniyin Selvan, which will be coming out in two parts and the actress is speculated to be portraying the role of Kundavai Illaiya Piratti. The upcoming epic historical fiction film produced by Lyca Productions in association with Madras Talkies has several big names in its ensemble cast featuring the likes of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, 'Chiyaan' Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Prakash Raj, Jayaram, Prabhu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Vikram Prabhu to name a notable few. An adaptation of Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 novel of the same name, Ponniyin Selvan: I also has Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman for the music and his collaboration with Mani Ratnam once again is one of the several big highlights in the film, which is scheduled for a grand release later this year. Apart from Ponniyin Selvan, Trisha is also awaiting the release of her films like Raangi, Sathuranga Vettai 2, Garjanai, and the Malayalam venture Ram opposite superstar Mohanlal.
