The 2004 Telugu romantic action film Varsham starring Prabhas and Trisha in the lead roles was a cult hit back when it was released. The film was re-released yesterday (November 12) at the request of fans, who celebrated the special film on a grand note. Varsham was written by M.S. Raju and the Paruchuri Brothers, directed by Sobhan and produced by M.S. Raju under the banner of Sumanth Art Productions. Actor Gopichand played the antagonist in which the music was composed by Devi Sri Prasad. 

Enthralled by its reception, the Ponniyin Selvan: I actor took to Twitter to share a video clip from the theatre in which the fans were seen jumping up and down with joy and cheering for her. Along with it she also attached a caption that read, "18 years later…A re-release…My first Telugu film…Still feels like yesterday…🥹 Just goes to prove “Films are forever” and I repeat for the 9456743 time “I AM because of you all” #myheartisfull #varsham ❤️ ". Trisha was blown away by her fans’ reaction when her 18 year old film was screened at a theatre in Hyderabad. The actress stated she is in a great position in the industry all because of the support of her staunch fans. The film which was released with a 4K resolution recorded very good occupancies though there were new releases yesterday. The film was later remade in Tamil in 2005 as Mazhai, Odia as Barsa My Darling, and in Hindi as Baaghi in 2016.

Trisha played the role of a pluviophile named Shailaja, who has a magical connection with rain. The rom-com about star-crossed lovers was a huge hit at the time. It was in theatres for more than 175 days. Trisha was last seen in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan: I which was loved by the audience and the critics. Her upcoming films include Sathuranga Vettai 2, Ram: Part 1, and The Road.
