The Indian government has now allowed special trains to operate for helping stranded people return to their hometowns and left the decision at the discretion of the source and destination states! As part of this effort, a special Shramik Express train carrying stranded Nagaland students has left from Chennai for Dimapur, yesterday (Tuesday) night! This train started from the Dr. MGR Chennai Central Railway Station, at 11:20 pm, yesterday and is currently enroute to Dimapur, in Nagaland! This special train is taking a route different from the regular one, due to the threat of the Amphan Super Cyclone.

Special train carrying Nagaland students leaves for Dimapur from Chennai!

We hear that this special Shramik Express is expected to be arriving at the Dimapur Station, tomorrow (Thursday) - May 21st! The stranded students were all screened before they were allowed to board the train at Chennai and further media reports suggest that the train had reached Makudi Railway Station in Maharashtra, as of today (Wednesday) morning! Nagaland's Chief Secretary Temjen Toy had earlier revealed that about 18,000 Nagaland citizens had registered with the government as being stranded in other places and following this first special train from Chennai, plans are being made to bring back all of them!
