American actress and producer Kaley Cuoco, best known for playing Penny on the smash hit sitcom The Big Bang Theory, which ran from 2007–2019, has filed for divorce from her equestrian husband Karl Cook. Cuoco, 35, filed for divorce at the Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday, the same day she and Cook, 30, announced their separation after three years of marriage. In a joint statement to PEOPLE, the former couple said, "Despite a deep love and respect for one another, we have realized that our current paths have taken us in opposite directions. We have both shared so much of our journey publicly so while we would prefer to keep this aspect of our personal life private, we wanted to be forthcoming in our truth together. There is no anger or animosity, quite the contrary." The statement further read, "We have made this decision together through an immense amount of respect and consideration for one another and request that you do the same in understanding that we will not be sharing any additional details or commenting further."

Kaley Cuoco began dating Karl Cook, an equestrian and son of billionaire Scott Cook, in 2016 and they got engaged in November 2017 on her birthday. The couple tied the knot on June 30, 2018 at San Diego, California, with close family members and friends gracing the occasion. Cuoco and Cook celebrated their three-year wedding anniversary this June by sharing messages of love and togetherness with their Instagram followers. "NY, June 30th, 2016 is the year we met," The Flight Attendant actress captioned her black-and-white throwback photo of them together on a New York City sidewalk at the time. She further wrote, "2 years to the day before we got married and now 3 years married! Why have you stayed married to me for so long?! I'm sincerely impressed @mrtankcook lol I love you oh so much you have no idea…happy anniversary!!!" Likewise, Cook too shared a post on his social media page and wrote, "I agree @kaleycuoco I am just as amazed it's been three years, feel like just a flash. I love you so much and I can't wait for a million more years!!"
