There is a great level of excitement surrounding Varisu, initially titled Thalapathy 66, as the makers had revealed a while back that the film will be on the lines of Vijay's wholesome family entertainers like Poove Unakkaga and Thulladha Manamum Thullum. The superstar is paired opposite national sensation Rashmika Mandanna for the first time and their chemistry on the big screen is undoubtedly expected to be one of the biggest USPs of the film, which also includes an ensemble supporting cast featuring Sarathkumar, Prakash Raj, Prabhu, Jayasudha, Yogi Babu, Shaam, actress Sangeetha Krish, Srikanth and Bigg Boss 4 fame Samyuktha Shanmughanathan among others in pivotal roles. Varisu also marks the first-time collaboration for Thaman. S with Vijay after the chart-buster South Indian composer expressed his desire to team up with the leading Tamil actor on several occasions over the years.
