'Thalapathy' Vijay's Varisu will be opening in cinemas worldwide as a grand 2023 Pongal treat and is currently one of the biggest Tamil ventures in production. Being directed by Vamshi Paidipally under Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Creations banner, the upcoming film is billed to be a full-fledged family entertainer along the lines of Poove Unakkaga and Thulladha Manamum Thullum and will see the superstar sharing screen space opposite national sensation Rashmika Mandanna for the first time. That being said, there is now a huge buzz that the makers of Varisu have added filmmaker turned actor SJ Suryah in the film and will mark the fourth occasion he will be working with Vijay after directing the superstar in his directorial Kushi in 2000, followed by a crucial appearance in Nanban in 2012, including starring as the antagonist in the 2017 blockbuster Mersal

According to reports, the latest update is that SJ Suryah has boarded Varisu for an important role and is filming his portions in Hyderabad. It is further being stated that a leading Telugu actor was initially in talks for the role, but couldn't take up the offer owing to scheduling conflicts, with the makers then bringing in the Maanaadu star. Fans have shown immense love for the Vijay-SJ Suryah combo over the years in the films they have worked together and it will no doubt be interesting to witness them together on the big screen once again. As of now, an official announcement from the Varisu team is being awaited regarding SJ Suryah's inclusion in the film, which is expected to be made in the days ahead.

Varisu already has a packed supporting star cast featuring the likes of Sarathkumar, Prakash Raj, Prabhu, Jayasudha, Yogi Babu, Shaam, actress Sangeetha Krish, Srikanth and Bigg Boss 4 fame Samyuktha Shanmughanathan and others in vital roles. Furthermore, chart-buster composer Thaman. S is scoring the songs and background music for a Vijay film for the first time and fans await a foot-tapping album with Varisu.
