'Thalapathy' Vijay's Varisu has kicked off 2023 in grand style as the Vamshi Paidipally directorial produced by Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Creations banner has taken a phenomenal start in cinemas worldwide. The film has been witnessing family audiences throng theatres in numbers and the common verdict declared by them has so far been exceptionally positive thus signaling it to be an outstanding success. Having said that, prior to the release, there was some negative buzz surrounding the runtime of Varisu coming in at close to three hours, which the film's National Award-winning editor Praveen K. L. has now addressed in an exclusive interview with Galatta.

During the interaction, Praveen K. L. emphasized how it's important to have a look at the content in Varisu first before arriving at a conclusion. He says, "I think at the time we were pretty much locked and confident about the film. There will be that consciousness when it comes to any film to make the duration under a controllable length. If they are going to weigh in on a film based on that aspect, then it's going to be difficult. Unless and until you've seen the content, making assumptions about whether the film is good or bad based on that sole factor (runtime), is a wrong vibe opinion."
Varisu sees Vijay paired with the 'National Crush' Rashmika Mandanna alongside an ensemble star cast featuring the likes of R Sarathkumar, Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Shaam, Srikanth, Khushbu, Yogi Babu, Jayasudha, Sangeetha Krish, Samyuktha Shanmughanathan, Nandini Rai, Ganesh Venkatraman, Sriman, VT Ganesan, John Vijay, Bharath Reddy, Sanjana, among others, and features music by composer Thaman. S, whose songs are already chart-topping hits, with his background score as well garnering immense praise.
