A few days back, a meeting was held with members of actor Vijay's fan clubs to decide on the strategy ahead of the Tamil Nadu urban civic body elections in which they will be contesting as independent candidates. Bussy Anand had revealed during a press meet that candidates from all districts had been invited to file their nominations to contest in the elections, which would be reviewed by the Vijay Makkal Iyakkam and be brought to the actor's attention. The candidates will be contesting the upcoming civic body elections independently based on the 2021 model. It is to be noted that 129 members of the Vijay Makkal Iyakkam emerged victorious in the TN local body elections last year after contesting in 169 seats to become village panchayat ward heads.

On the work front, Vijay completed shooting Beast directed by Nelson Dilipkumar under the Sun Pictures banner, which is gearing up for a theatrical release on April 14. He will begin shooting for the upcoming Thalapathy 66 under Vamshi Paidipally’s direction being produced by Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Creations banner.
