Leading Tamil actor Vijay's entry in politics has been hinted at for a decade even though he continues to be silent about his aspirations, with members from his fans association recently winning big in the Tamil Nadu rural local body elections. For the first time, 129 members of the All India Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Iyakkam (AITVMI) emerged victorious in the TN local body elections from the 169 seats contested and became village panchayat ward heads. That said, Bussy Anand, General Secretary of the All India Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Iyakkam took to social media on Wednesday to share a photo of Vijay meeting the local body election winners, while also releasing an official statement, including the list of the contestants.

The latest victory by Vijay Makkal Iyakkam members in the Tamil Nadu rural local body elections will no doubt come as a big boost for Vijay, who has over the past few years indicated an entry into the political arena. Some of his speeches in recent times during the audio launch events of his films, especially Sarkar and Master, made heads turn among personalities from all walks of life. Although it remains to be a waiting game at this point in regard to Vijay's actual entry into politics, these latest developments and the superstar meeting the candidates who contested on behalf of his fans association is no doubt a big start.

On the work front, 'Thalapathy' Vijay, whose Master released earlier this Pongal turned out to be a box office blockbuster and revived the theatre business and movie-watching experience after the pandemic lockdown, is currently working on Beast being directed by Nelson Dilipkumar under the Sun Pictures banner and features music by 'Rockstar' Anirudh Ravichander. Production on Beast has been progressing at a brisk pace, with Pooja Hegde cast as the female lead, followed by Selvaraghavan in a crucial role, while the ensemble cast includes Yogi Babu, VTV Ganesh, Lilliput Faruqui, Shine Tom Chacko, Ankur Ajit Vikal and Aparna Das.
