Social media has been abuzz with the announcement of Thalapathy 68, which came out on Sunday. The upcoming film marks the first-time collaboration between box office superstar 'Thalapathy' Vijay and blockbuster filmmaker Venkat Prabhu, and will be produced under the AGS Entertainment banner, with music by celebrated composer Yuvan Shankar Raja. With fans still expressing their excitement over last week's announcement, AGS Entertainment today shared a photo of a Thalapathy 68 banner erected in Malaysia.
Joining hands with Vijay for the second time after the 2019 blockbuster, Bigil, AGS Entertainment shared the picture of the Thalapathy 68 announcement on their social media handles and wrote, "The fever has started 🔥🔥🔥", with the three fire emojis said to be representing Vijay, Venkat Prabhu, and Yuvan Shankar Raja. Although it is unknown whether the banner has been erected by AGS Entertainment or by fans in Malaysia, this latest promotion tactic has once again skyrocketed the buzz surrounding the film, which is expected to roll into production after Vijay wraps up shooting for his ongoing venture, Leo, being directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Slated for a 2024 release, Thalapathy 68 will include the best technicians of global standards and the highest production values, with the cast and crew, title announcement, and other updates set to be released by the production team officially, in due time, AGS Entertainment said in their statement last week. There is massive excitement considering it also marks the first time in two decades that Yuvan Shankar Raja is composing the songs and the background score for a Vijay-starrer after Pudhiya Geethai (2005), and there are tremendous expectations for him to deliver a cracker of an entertaining album. Thalapathy 68 will likely begin production after the release of Leo, which has been announced to open in cinemas worldwide on October 19 as a grand Ayudha pooja holidays treat.
