The one Tamil film, which is currently the talk of the town is the upcoming Vijay-starrer, the tentatively titled Thalapathy 67, and sees the actor teaming up with director Lokesh Kanagaraj once again after their 2021 box office hit, Master. With the film officially announced on Monday, the film's core technical crew was also revealed by producer S S Lalit Kumar's 7 Screen Studio banner, which left many querying the team about the cast. Having said that, the production-distribution house on Tuesday, January 31, announced the first big casting update for Thalapathy 67 informing fans that Bollywood superstar Sanjay Dutt is boarding the film, which will incidentally be his Tamil cinema debut.
Sharing a photo of the iconic Hindi actor while announcing his casting for Thalapathy 67, Lalit Kumar's 7 Screen Studio wrote on Twitter, "We feel esteemed to welcome @duttsanjay sir to Tamil Cinema and we are happy to announce that he is a part of #Thalapathy67 ❤️". The picture also carried a quote by the Bollywood actor and his excitement at coming aboard the film. Sanjay Dutt said, "When I heard the one-liner of Thalapathy 67, I knew in that exact moment I had to be a part of this film and I'm thrilled to start this journey." Check out the tweet below:

Sanjay Dutt is the first big star to be officially announced by 7 Screen Studio and we can expect the Thalapathy 67 team to come out with more big updates regarding who will be a part of the illustrious project. As of now, details of the Hindi actor's role in his Tamil debut remain unknown despite reports claiming for a while now that he's playing the antagonist after last year's nationwide blockbuster, K. G. F: Chapter 2. Thalapthy 67 also marks composer Anirudh Ravichander's fourth outing with Vijay after he delivered chart-topping songs and thunderous background scores in Kaththi (2014), Master (2021), and Beast (2022), and there are huge expectations for him to come out with yet another memorable album for the superstar.
