Actor Vijay's next film, the tentatively titled Thalapathy 66, began rolling on Wednesday after a pooja, which was held in the presence of several names associated with the upcoming venture. Being directed Vamshi Paidipally, the film is touted to be a family-centric story along the lines of Vijay's Poove Unakkaga and Thulladha Manamum Thullum, and is set to be made on a grand scale by Dil Raju and Shirish's Sri Venkateswara Creations banner. That said, chart-buster music director Thaman. S, who is composing the songs and background score in Thalapathy 66, took to social media and shared his experience after watching Vijay’s performance on the first day of the shooting.

Thaman, who is incidentally working with Vijay for the first time, shared a picture of a clapboard from the shooting spot and described Vijay's performance as "mind-blowing".
