The hype surrounding Thalaivar 170 has shot up, especially after several big names were revealed to be joining Rajinikanth in the film, starting with iconic Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan, who has been announced to be appearing in a key role. The 'Shahenshah' of Indian cinema and the 'Superstar' of Tamil cinema are reuniting after a gap of 32 years when they were seen last in the blockbuster, Hum (1991). Likewise, Rajinikanth's Thalaivar 170 also features National Award-winning Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil, who impressed Tamil audiences after his stellar performances in Vikram and Maamannan, with Baahubali villain Rana Daggubati, Irudhi Suttru and Oh My Kadavule star Ritika Singh, and Natchathiram Nagargiradhu heroine Dushara Vijayan cast in pivotal roles. Apart from the stellar cast in Thalaivar 170, 'Rockstar' Anirudh Ravichander is composing the songs and the background score for the Rajinikanth-starrer and is the fourth time he has boarded the actor's film after Petta (2019), Darbar (2020), and the recent blockbuster, Jailer.
