Acclaimed Telugu actor R. Narayana Murthy's mother Chittema passed away on Tuesday morning, July 5, at the Rautulapudi Mandal Mallampeta of East Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh. She was 93. Chittema's last rites will be held tomorrow (July 6) morning in the presence of family members. According to reports, she had been suffering from a number of health issues over the years. Several political leaders and members of the film industry along with fans have paid their tributes and expressed their condolences to Narayana Murthy and his family on social media. 

Apart from garnering a name for himself as a talented actor, Narayana Murthy also made heads turn as a producer and filmmaker. Born in Mallampeta village of the East Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh, the Telugu cinema veteran cultivated his passion for films at a very young age with the hopes of making it big in the world of entertainment as an actor. Narayana Murthy also took part in numerous student movements during his days at the Narayanamurthy Maharani College and claimed the presidency as well. 

Narayana Murthy shifted base to Madras back in the day and finally made his entry into the film industry after facing several hardships during the course of his journey. He has made appearances in more than 35 films as an actor and garnered the name of being the people's star as he didn't care about whether his ventures turned out to be hits or flops at the box office. As a filmmaker, Narayana Murthy has directed films like Dandora, Lal Salaam, Red Army, Urumanadira, and Cheemaladandu, while also producing ventures under his Sneha Chitra Pictures banner. He is known best among fans for making left-oriented films that shed light on the lower strata of society being exploited by the upper classes with power and money.
