The Tamil Film Industry, lead by the Directors' Association of Tamil Nadu was very progressive with their plan of taking to a fast in support of Tamil Nadu on 8th January, over the Mullaipperiyar dam issue. With the verdict given by the panel headed by justice Anand being in favor of Tamil Nadu, the planned fast by Tamil Film Industry is now on stand by mode. A press release from the Tamil Nadu Film Directors' Association carried this news.
However, the associations have announced very clearly that they are just putting the fast on hold following the resumption in normality in the ties between Kerala and Tamil Nadu, but would carry out with the fast in case of recurrence of any further disputes.
The TNFDA's press release extended heartfelt gratitude to Sarath Kumar and Radha Ravi, the president and secretary of the Tamil Nadu Actors Association. TNFDA are also very thankful to the ever supportive directors and assistant directors of Tamil film industry, who resolved to extend their full support to the fast as soon as it was announced.
