Social media has been abuzz over the week with the rumor that Suriya's big film with acclaimed filmmaker Vetri Maaran, the highly-anticipated Vaadivaasal, has been dropped, which left many of the actor's fans confused and disappointed. Earlier, the film had a test shoot a few months back and photos of the National Award-winning actor and filmmaker duo along with producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu went viral on social media. That being said, Suriya addressed the topic of Vaadivaasal getting dropped and denied the news as a rumor while adding that the next-level pre-production works are currently underway.

Speaking at a fans meet on Friday, December 23, in Chennai, Suriya stated that the shooting for Vaadivaasal will begin soon and informed that a glimpse of the film has been sent to a reputed overseas VFX company for animatics. Producer Kalaipuli Thanu too during a recent interview went on to deny the news of the film being produced under his V Creations banner to be dropped while requesting fans to not believe in baseless rumors. The assuring statements from both Suriya and Kalaipuli Thanu regarding their Vaadivaasal will undoubtedly come as a big respite for fans after the actor had recently announced that he had opted out of Vanangaan under National Award-winning filmmaker Bala's direction.

Vaadivaasal is based on acclaimed Tamil writer CS Chellapa's novel and revolves around Jallikattu, the traditional sport of Tamil Nadu. The film's title look poster was released in 2020 followed by an intriguing glimpse last year on the occasion Suriya's birthday and showed him in the midst of action and tackling a bull at a jallikattu event alongside several other junior artistes. Other than Suriya, filmmaker-actor Ameer has been confirmed to be starring in Vaadivaasal, which will have music by G. V. Prakash Kumar, who recently won the National Award for Best Background Score for his work in Soorarai Pottru
