Vikram's story primarily revolves around Kamal Haasan reprising his role from the 1986 film of the same title and is seen squaring off against 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi as Santhanam, the drug lord, for the majority of the story. Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil too delivers a strong performance as the commander of a black-ops squad, with the film serving as a continuation of the events of Lokesh Kanagaraj's second directorial Kaithi starring Kaithi in 2019. The inclusion of Suriya in Vikram happened at the final stages of production, which left many surprised, and the actor's power-packed performance has since been the talk among fans on social media.

Kamal Haasan's Vikram has turned out to be a phenomenal success at the domestic box office and is set to continue its strong run in the days ahead. The action thriller has also made the achievement of now becoming the highest-grossing Tamil film of all time in the United Kingdom, with reputed Tamil and Malayalam distribution house AP International making the announcement recently.
